With three different and exciting duck races down the whitewater rapids, you and everyone in the community has the opportunity to take part in the thrill of the race!
When: Sunday 20 October 2019, 9am to 12pm
Where: Vector Wero Whitewater Park, 770 Great South Rd, Wiri, Auckland 2104
GONE QUACKERS KIDS ZONE
Exactly as the name suggests this is THE area for kids to hang out and the perfect chill-out zone for the whole family during a big quacking day out!
'Duck dollars' cost $2 each and can be purchased at the gate with Eftpos available.
Meet Festival Ambassador Harold the Giraffe, have your photo with him, enjoy the delicious food carts and win prizes playing fun games!
Use a ‘duck dollar’ to shoot targets with water pistols, try your luck with ‘Pluck a Duck’, go fishing with 'Floating Islands' and many more.
There will be a great range of FREE activities as well including a bouncy castle, colouring-in under the shade of a gazebo and the fabulous photo booth is back so practice your duck face, crack some silly faces and get a print out of four photos to take home with you.
SHAKE YOUR TAIL FEATHER
There will be a great mix of music creating infectious fun to keep you shaking your tail feathers all morning. You’ve heard of the fox trot dance? Well have fun grooving to the music and look out for dancing ducks practicing their favorite move, the quack step!
Manukau Youth Jazz Orchestra will be showcasing their fantastic musical abilities by playing a variety of well-known tunes in between the race. The Jazz band is part of the larger group Manukau Youth Orchestra, established in 1974, they provide affordable music tuition for 120 young people and run a total of seven bands and orchestras based in Manurewa.
Learning to read music and play an instrument is hugely beneficial to young people’s development and MYO make this accessible. Another one of the awesome initiatives in our backyard that empower children, just like Healthy Harold and Life Education trust!
Entertainment will quite literally take to the water this year with a paddle boarding demonstration and mini motor boats zooming up and down the lake.
CHECK OUT A LIFE EDUCATION LESSON
In between each race, there will be the chance for you and your children to experience Life Education in a Mobile Classroom.
No need to spend a duck dollar for this one, but seats are limited so waddle on over and register quick (that’s duck speak for ITS FREE but hurry)!
This is open to everyone! It's a great chance for parents to see Harold and our educators in action with one of the popular sessions we offer schools. Check it out and have a chat with your kids about the message.
All ages are welcome, but we warned, our lessons are big on participation, so you may be asked to join in and help Harold.
